The following is a selection of my photographic work taken over the last 40 or more years.
I became interested in recording, or rather experiencing the landscape with camera whilst still a teenager.
I became aware of there being many aspects to the notion of landscape, from the wide scenic panorama to the close up study of intimate detail of plant, rock or sea shore.
There are also the changing aspects; time, season and weather which give endless variation and life to the subject.
Most of the work displayed was taken on film of all sorts and formats; some recent work belatedly explores the digital medium, which I find very promising in expanding creative possibilities beyond those possible with film.
Some of the images shown are the result this sort of process, others are the product of lower tech darkroom manipulation. Recent work has been largely about using the camera in unorthodox ways to produce abstract or impressionistic images.
I hope all my work conveys something of the love of the subject and processes which brought these images into being.
